Reznick and Goldfield article is about children vocabulary comprehension and production spurt In the current research the authors sought to find out the answer to the three main questions Whether childrenisany spurt in comprehension during the second year Whether they spurt in comprehension and production And if children spurt in both domains do so in the same 2-month intervals The experiment consisted of 24 English-speaking infants there were 12 boys and 12 girls Also they were divided in two groups half firstsborns and half laterborns Children were followed from 14 to 22 months old They had to visit to a labaratory every 2 weeks of their 14th 16th 18th 20th and 22nd months The logitudinal examination is divided into two sections the experimental visual tests and parent-report diary The experimental visual tests is designed to assess children comprehension There ere 15 words for each test This test process is divided into 5 parts 1 Children sit facing a rear-projectation screen which shows the slides for 8s while the observes presing buttons corresponding to the direction of gaze 2 After it they saw 3s the blank screen and the observer gave children questions for example Where is the Do you see the 3 They show again the same slides for 8 s while the observer again coded visual fixation 4 After a 3-s break was another trial 5 There was 5-10 minutes break after 6 trials The process was Diary study created to calculate a vocabulary spurt The second section is parend diaries They had to fill a diary of their childrens first words which were disccused by phone at 25 week intervalsThe results of the experiment shows that Comprehension spurts for many children during the second year and that while more children spurted at 20-22 months than at any other interval some children spurted as early as 14 months The result of the diary data demonstrates that the spurt began
