Being Like Faustus Dr Faustus The stars move still time runs the clock will strike the devil will come and Faustus must be damned O Ill leap up to my God who pulls me down See See where Christs blood streams in the firmament one drop would save my soul half a drop Ah my Christ Act 5 Sn 2561-52 This quote comes from the play Dr Faustus In this scene Dr Faustus is realizing that his time is growing shorter and shorter and that Satan will soon come for his soul This is a good description of how I feel when I wait till the last minute to do things Just like Faustus and repenting when I put things off for till the last minute eventually it would become too late to finish and my time would run out Procrastination is a problem I still deal with although this year I have gotten much better at starting projects earlier since there usually is not enough time to finish in just one night Throughout all four years Ive endeavored to gain as much knowledge as I could and learned that knowledge is not worth the price of your soul like Faustus thought Even though knowledge is important to me and Ive advanced in mathematics further than most college graduates do I realize that Ill eventually move on with my life have a family and probably forget much of what I learned in high school and college Over the years Ive learned that even though I am usually right Im not always right The downfall of many of the characters that I learned about came from being closed-minded and not listening to others Faustus was warned over and over again by angels that he should repent and go with God Macbeth was warned of that which is not born of woman and even Caesar was warned of the ides of march I have learned
