During this semester I took several courses of which college writing was one of themmy journey through this class I must say wasnt an easy one because we were engaged in lots of writings and reading and also lots of critical thinking Nevertheless it is one my best class I attended so far and with the help of my instructor Abigail Machson carter I was able to overcome my fear and then find the class very interesting Been in this class I must say was not in vain there were many strategies used to approach the essays we read and with the help of that I now see myself as a readerBefore I started this class I never liked reading literature or academic essays because of their complexity and extensiveness But stay in the class really added value to my academical careerone thing I noticed is that the way I began to approach reading changed because at first when I read I didnt really care if i understood what I have read or not I only read because I was asked to We read three essay a reflective narrative essay by Richard Rodriguez a challenging theoretical piece by Paulo Freire and finally a short essay that is more of poetry by Brian Doyle All of these essays were read severally in other to really get their main ideaWhen reading these essays I had different thoughts and feelings about them because they were all talking about different ideas For the first one Achievement of Desire by Richard Rodriguez which was a narrative essay I felt very happy reading that essay because I felt it was myself and we were also given assignments to compare and contrast it to our own educational experience The same feeling goes to the second essay too The banking system of education by Paulo Freire This essay was about theories of education and connected to the political aspect in life But
