Bridget's feedback:
"Your investigation throughout this essay is thorough and detailed, helping the reader understand your approach, knowledge, and ethos. The paragraph structure and overall movement through the ideas is guided by logic and signposting. Unclear attribution (a lack of citations) often makes it hard, however, to navigate the discussion. While some signal phrasing and the presence of quotation marks begins to delineate the movement between sourced material and your own commentary, I recommend further use of signal phrases in introducing the quotations and, as suits your style guide, the use of in-text citations.
To zoom in on two moments where these decisions impact clarity, we can look at, first, the opening: the quotation at the top is not attributed--a reader who does not recognize it may think it is derived from the document you name in the next sentence; if "A Vision of Youth Ministry" does indeed use this quote, you should help the reader understand this, as it gives valuable information for how your text creates its own authority and ethos (some style guides will have you use "quoted in" or a similar formulation). If you wish to use the quotation as an epigraph, use a line break to indicate this for the reader (a good example of how formatting creates visual signposting).
Another moment of confusion comes at the end of that same first page, where you lead into the third paragraph with an ellipsis; does this indicate quoted material? If so, when and where does the quote begin and end? Check your style guide for presenting longer quotations (block quotes). If this is not a quote, clarify the use of the ellipsis."
