If asked Who was the greatest football player of all time many people would have no idea what with so many good players nowadays - Kurt Warner might immediately come to mind Although there are many excellent football players it is generally agreed that the best football player ever is Bronislau Bronko Nagurski Bronislau Nagurski was born in Rainy River Ontario and spent most of his life living just across the US border in International Falls Minnesota He spent some time in his youth wrestling He was a 3-time world heavyweight champion defeating Dean Detton 1937 Lou Thesz 1939 and Ray Steele 1941 Then he stood 62 and weighed about 225 His Hall of Fame ring that he received in 1932 was a size 12 12 He was known to be a strong and tough but nice guy Bronislau Bronko Nagurskis talents were legendary as a tackle a fullback a defensive end and an offensive end linebacker and a passer In 1929 he was an all-American defensive tackle and also made all-America teams that year as a fullback He was the only man ever picked at two positions Ballots were found with the 11 one-platoon positions listed and only 10 names Nagurski in two of the spots Other awards include All-Pro with the Chicago Bears from 1932 to 1934 and he was a charter member of college and pro Halls of Fame Once in a game at Chicagos Wrigley Field where the end zone was only nine yards Bronko scored a winning touchdown by running into and over two opponents He left one unconscious and the other with a broken shoulder Unable to curb his momentum he continued collided with a goalpost and slammed into a brick wall There is still a crack in the wall to this day He immediately picked himself up and commented that the other guys hit pretty hard In conclusion Bronislau Bronko Nagurski was an awesome and versatile player
