I can appreciate that we need to keep up with the times even when it comes to technology Especially in a time period where one finds that time is of the essence and that there is a need to know right now While in todays society there are more families friends and co-workers that turn to the keypad on their phones instead of the number keypad to make an actual call I would say that a phone call is a more efficient way to communication over texting The texting option not only contributes to a waiting period it also contributes to the possibility that the message can be miss understood or miss interpreted not to mention the impact it has on communication in generalOne can send a quick text to inform a family member that we will be late for dinner or to pick them up from school Maybe we can send a text to cancel a movie date with a friend or send our supervisor a quick text informing them they we are running late or that we wont make it to work at all Is the proper etiquette Ill be late or do you take the time to key the fully details like I will be late for dinner because I had to stay late and finish a project for tomorrow mornings meeting Think of the time it may take to type the message vs dialing 10 digits waiting for the phone to ring and speaking the words Understanding that folks may type at different speeds and may have a form of short hand a phone call allows for the dialogue and acknowledgment from the person receiving the communication How about when the wireless service inside the building interferes You send the text message and it is delayed because of the poor service inside of a particular building or structure There are times we
