Can Internet Censorship Be a Possibility?

This is an argumentative essay in which the author discussed their position on censoring the internet. First, the author states that free speech and the First Amendment of the United States Constitution are critical, so censorship is not an option. Next, the author mentions the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) v. Janet Reno to support this position. Reno presented the Communication Decency Act (CDA), which would have made it a crime to communicate anything indecent on the internet. The ACLU said the act violated the First Amendment. The author also mentions that Senator J. James Exon supported the act. To further support their position, the author goes on to discuss Kiyoshi Koromiya and the Critical Path AIDS Project, the Playboy and Discovery channels, x-rated websites, pornography, the Klu Klux Klan, the Federal Trade Commission, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), and the v-chip.
