Many elements can be classified in what makes a southern small town They can be seen as many interdependent units that work together for the better of the whole These units include people churches governments businesses schools and recreation facilities which are involved in giving birth to a geographical area therefore a classification of local inhabitants of a southern small town will be the focal point of this essay A small town is defined as a community of inhabitants that gives a specific characteristic to a geological area People are human beings making up a group or an assembly or are linked by a common interest People are one of the interdependent units because a town needs people to survive and people need a town to survive in Small towns people can be categorized into two major classes There are the Locals people who are native to that specific area and are characterized in that particular place The other class is the Transplants These are the people who move from another region and take up permanent residence in the Locals town In most areas of North Carolina they are also known as Damn Yankees and Flori-duhs Locals can be divided into three types First are the Rednecks They have been described as someone born in the backwoods who share a common interest in pig-pickings in tobacco spitting contest in blue-grass music beer belly posture and a Rebel flag flying in every front yard in place of the American one They are also noted for crossbreeding and a lack of common intelligence Rednecks have developed their own usage of the English language known as The Code of Redneck Grammar It is quite simple for a Transplant to learn The first rule that a Transplant uses is to drop the ending off every word that ends in o or ow and add a er Thus the word potato becomes potaters and windows become winders The second rule
