A Career in Physical Therapy Thesis By examining issues such as training and education work schedule job environment salary and personal fulfillment I find myself to be highly suited to a career in physical therapy 1 A career in physical therapy offers many opportunities to some one willing to work hard A Injured people today require quality help that is performed by someone dedicated and who would truly care about their health B Having the opportunity to help others can be very rewarding 2 The training and education required to be physical therapist is extensive A For a bachelors degree in physical therapy which requires the fewest years of post high school education four years is needed form an accredited education program 1 High school education 2 College education B An increasing number of physical therapists are choosing to obtain a Masters degree in physical therapy which requires at least six years of post-high school education C On-sight internship is also required to obtain a license and often this is done voluntarily without pay 1 After graduation one must pass a state-administered national exam D Continuing education is recommended for those advancing to administrative positions 3 The work schedule for physical therapists varies from grueling to relaxed A At hospitals one can work seven nine hour days a week 1 At least two hours a day outside treatment time is required for paper work 2 At hospitals an average of two weeks of vacation time is given per year B At private practice offices one can work significantly less 1 At private practice offices vacation time can be a lot more 4 The job environment varies
