Life in the 1830s was very different from life now People cities towns and work everything was different Communication was incredibly difficult and same with the living conditions In this essay I will be comparing lifestyles work and entertainment I will compare our current age to the 19th century I will be focusing on two sisters that came from England to Canada named Susanna Moodie Catherine Parr Traill The world was huge back then people had to travel by sea to every place or by horseback There were no cars planes or jets Everything moved slowly people didnt go to the store to get things people didnt buy their food they had to farm it themselves Now a days everything is at our fingertips we can order anything online we can travel anywhere in the world in less than a day it has made the world so small everything is connected A new invention in another country will be in yours within a day When Susanne and Catherine traveled to Upper Canada they traveled in what is called a coffin ship These ships are called that because once you step on it the chances of catching a disease or becoming sick increases significantly Most people would die on these ships because of lack of food density of people onboard and very little hygen These ships would be traveling on the open water for roughly a month maybe even two if circumstances forced it People on board had to supply themselves with their own food No food was served to them so it was not like a cruise ship or really any kind of ship nowadays Susanne and Catherine arrived to Upper Canada in the year 1832 They did not arrive with a lot of food or supplies coming with pretty much nothing The moved to a cleared part of Port Hope where they settled down for a couple of years working the land When
