Edna from The Awakening and Esther from The Bell Jar arevery similar and different in many ways and if they mettheywould have many good discussions Both Edna and Esther are theprotagonists in their stories but Esther is the narrator inhers They both are very into sexual thing it seems likebecause Edna cheat with her Husband Leonce with Robert althoughtheynever do anything sexual because Robert is against it ThenEsther wants to lose her virginity before marriage because shedoes not believe in what society thinks she should do Edna andEsther go against societies beliefs and do the opposite of whatis expected from them They would have a very good conversationif they ever metI believe one thing they would ask each other is how theirrelationship is with their parent since Edna lost her mom andEsther lost her dad They both lost one of their parents at avery young age so they have that in common The deaths ofEdnas mom and Esthers dad may be very important things thatmade the rebelliousness come out in the two women againstsociety I believe this because of the quote where Esther saysI was only purely happy until I was nine years old Afterthat in spite of the girl scouts and piano lessons all ofwhich my mother scrimped to give me I had never been reallyhappy again From her implying that after the age of nine shewas never again happymakes me believe this because that wasafter her dad had died Esther hated her mother in the storybut did feel bad for hating her She compares men to herfathers perfect image so she must have thought highly of herfather and was probably pretty close to him Maybe Daddyslittle girl Since they both seem to miss the parent they eachlost and seem to have been close to them they would probablyvent about it for a while This would be very good for both ofthem though because they have someoneto talk to who knowsexactly how the other
