After reading Come Eat and The Queen of Mold as a classassignment it was hard to ignore the fact that there were somany similarity between the two essays One of the biggestcomparison I thought was how much each story seems to revolvearound food and meals It becomes obvious while reading each ofthe two essays that they both are very descriptive abouttheir family eating habits Both readings also have a way ofuniquely and clearly painted a pitcher of their own family Inother words describing their family to the audience In eachessay there were very different Although in both essays themain character was the Alpha Mother A female family memberthat was the caretaker She nurtured while andlooking afterher family In the essay The Queen of Mold the mother was themain character while in Come Eat the familys grandmother wasthe main characterThey are both woman The grandmother ofCome Eat idea of nurturing her family was to supply foodthat wasnt as much ridged and carefully made as it was endlessin amount as well as supply Th main charter played by thegrandmother equated her family s well being with her abilityto provide substance for her family The mother in e Queen ofMold took the same approach as the grandmother but shepreferred quality over quantity Meaning she enjoyed thepreparation as well as the creation of meals One of The Queenof Molds main characters meal creations was named EverythingSoup The soup got its name because its ingredientswereliterally everything in the refrigerator and in ComeEat whos the food kept on coming It was as if every mealthey ate was like Everything Soup Come Eat and The Queenof Mold mighthave been written separately but the similaritieswill forever cause me to group them together in my mind
