As humans it is in our nature to desire to be viewed as beautiful Merriam Webster defines beauty as the quality of being physically attractive or the qualities in a person or a thing that give pleasure to the senses and the mind Merriam Webster But who are we to say who is beautiful and who is not beautiful The definition of beauty in America can vary greatly from the definition of beauty in foreign countries but most countries share a few common ideas regarding what true beauty really is Fashion model Helena Christensen summarizes this concept by simply stating The more people explore the world the more they realize in every country theres a different aesthetic Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder Both Koreans and Americans have similar ideas of the perfect body American women tend to want a flat stomach long legs and a very low weight However this ideal body is physically impossible to achieve for a large percentage of American women The perfect body to men is described as being tall tan full muscle tone and visible abdominal muscles In Korea women want to be short and thin with small busts Being petite is thought to be most attractive to these women Korean and American women both view thinner women as more beautiful than larger women Korean and American men also are expected to have fit and muscular bodies While Korean men may be of a smaller build the muscle tone and strength of Korean and American men are very similarIn addition small noses and big eyes are considered beautiful to women of both countries Having a perfectly centered and narrow nose plays an important role in making people particularly women feel more beautiful While it is not necessarily considered unattractive to have a larger nose it is preferable to have a smaller nose One of the most popular plastic surgeries is rhinoplasty the enhancement of
