IntroductionAmerican culture prescribes to the belief that students who go to a good college end up being successful people and therefore it is of utmost importance to colleges to portray the image of a high-class institution To do so colleges must be able to predict how well students will do in college and which students are more likely to succeed The test of a truly good admissions department is to be able to determine which students will succeed not only based on standardized test scores and high school percentile but also by goals and desiresI compared the various schools at UWEC to determine which school had the highest grades GPA and how closely correlated high school percentile HSP was to that school In the process I also tried to see if there was a correlation between grade point average GPA and Age ACT Math English Composition scores in order to create an accurate comparison I concluded that although the nursing school students had the highest average grade point averages GPA the correlation between high school percentile and their GPA was actually lower than the rest of the schoolDescription of the DataSince working in the Department of Education as a statistician my colleague and I have been advised by my supervisor to assist the Head of the Admissions Department in the University of West Erlham County UWEC to determine which undergraduate students are the most successful at their University Like other Universities and Colleges UWEC is pleased to admit students who perform well academically however this does not always correlate to performing well in college As statisticians we have reviewed and compared data on 900 students We studied the quantitative variables grade point average GPA high school percentile HSP and ACT scores that include English Math and Composition We studied the categorical variables of intended age majors gender andcollege To this end we have used statistical techniques of data analysis to draw up
