The word Courage has many definitions one of which comes from the online reference dictionary the quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty danger pain etc without fear bravery It has been re-defined since the time of stone sword gun and pen It is what separates the good from the great and is possessed by almost every pioneer of any field in the history of mankind Courage is defined as a heroic quality and while we will not be delving into all of the heroic qualities individually they are present in addition to courage However courage is the most important quality in a hero First we may wish to define hero to understand the concept of courageA hero has courage While this statement may seem contradictory to our current argument it is an evident truth If a hero did not have courage they would not be much of a hero because they would be ineffective According to Win Borden who was quoted as saying If you wait to do everything until youre sure its right youll probably never do much of anything an amount of uncertainty exists in courage What Win may also be trying to say is that it is our actions that define us if you act upon something in a courageous manner you will be a hero Conversely if you act upon something in a cowardly manner you could be villainous though in most circumstances you are just a coward and to err is human etc but hopefully the point is starting to nudge forward A person by themselves doing nothing in particular is neither courageous nor cowardly an action must happenCourage being at one end of a moral and ethical spectrum is not so easily defined by its counterpart or solely through the actions performed under its guise It will have to be defined as it was created by a human being Jirina Siklova may have
