This essay reviews some key concepts and issues relevant to my proposed PhD study which includes two parts Part one is about creativity and creativity education I will firstly discuss the definition and development of creativity research section 11 then creativity education and the differences between teaching creatively and teaching for creativity will be addressed section 12 which is followed by an analysis of the two nationwide creativity education programmes in Taiwan sections 13 and 131 The second part is about evaluation of creativity education programme it will firstly highlight the main approaches for programme evaluation which will also present some relevant examples of evaluative studies of the Creative Partnerships in England section 21 Afterwards the issues of measuring creativity creative self-efficacy and behaviours section 22 will be discussedPART ONE CREATIVITY AND CREATIVITY EDUCATIONThere are threemain sections in the part one Section 11 discusses the definition and development trends of creativity research Section 12 highlights the meaning of creativity education whereas section 13 discusses two main nationwide creativity education programmes in Taiwan which is also the focus of the proposed PhD research CreativityCreativity is as an essential part of human behaviour and has thus been studied in a wide range of fields However it is still very difficult to pin down a precise definition of creativity just as Runco 2004 mentions creativity is notoriously difficult to define and measure also some scholars even argue that the specific term of creativity has been overused in inappropriate ways Abinum 2012 Most researchers agree that creativity has two distinctive characteristics noveltyoriginality and valuablenessusefulness Amabile1987 Brown 1989 Campbell 1960 Csikszentmihalyi 1988 1999 Cziko 1998 Fox 1963 Hausman 1987 Mayer 1999 Stewart 1950 Thurstone 1952 Csikszentmihalyi Wolfe 2000 further suggest that implementation is also an important element of creativity as the noveloriginal ideas still needs to be presented or implemented Morrison Johnston 2003 Cain Jolliff 1998 This view was also promoted by May 1975 creativity is the process of
