Edward Koch grasps the reader from the begging with a short story of a 18 year old being raped and murdered Opening the essay with this story puts the reader in the position of someone in court who is being convicted of a death penalty What started my mind was when the man who was being convicted Robert Lee Willie he stated that Killing people is wrong It makes no difference whether its citizens countries or governments Killing is wrong I found this ironic that people who are cold blooded killers where trying to teach society on how to be morally correct Koch makes his point of view very clear for readers Life is indeed precious and I believe the death penalty helps to affirm that fact Edward Koch Koch has experience in politics He understands exactly about the death penalty and how it affects people It even made him a subject of emotional and outraged attacks by his voters who find his point of view has the worse solution in death penalty Koch makes it easier for the reader to understand his position by listing it on a list and giving reasons why this is important for people to understand Koch list seven things about how death penalty can be good Out of those seven at least one can relate with someone One of the reasons is religious and their where some reasons on how this can help society get better and have better respect towards someone life Koch even used cancer a topic that most people can relate with as a way people can compare death penalty with Koch stated However one does not have to like the death penalty in order to support it any more than one must like radical surgery radiation or chemotherapy in order to find necessary these attempts at curing cancer Ultimately we may learn how to cure cancer with a simple pill Unfortunately that
