Choosing Dental Hygiene as my career is kind of surprising to me because I do not particularly like going to the dentists office much but Im practical enough to recognize that whatever happens in the economy there will still be a need for dental hygienists I also believe that it is a career with good earning potential and family-friendly hours and a good work environment I am especially interested in working in a pediatric dentists office and I know that I will really enjoy working with kids Something that influenced me oddly enough was my own dentist and the positive experiences I have had in her office She was able to make a cowardly patient like me not only comfortable going to the dentist but interested in learning more about working in an office like hers Though some young people think working in other peoples mouths is gross I actually find it fascinating I have always had a knack for learning science and health and I believe Im going to enjoy the course work I will be taking in college to prepare for this career I am also a person with good manual dexterity and I enjoy doing detailed work with my hands My objective is to obtain a career in the medical field as a registered dental hygienistDental Hygienists have a specific job In my research it explains the kind of work dental hygienists do Dental hygienists clean teeth examine patients for things like gingivitis and cavities Hygienists are the ones that take care of necessary dental instruments help with dental x-rays and the heavy duty cleaning of our teeth to make sure that they stay strong and healthy Summary It is not fun when you have a cavity or a painful disease of the gums but they are there to provide help and prevent that from ever happening Dental hygienists also educate patients
