Drug use in America Drug use in America is at an all time high more people then ever are using illegal drugs The three most commonly used drugs in the USA are Marijuana Crack-cocaine and Heroin They all have devastating effects on the body and sometimes death can even occur Marijuana is one the most commonly used drug in the USA Marijuana first came to this country about 150 years ago from Mexico It is grown in huge plantations where it is then harvest and ship to the US Many people smoke it because they think that it is not bad for them and it does not have any side effects on the body Marijuana in fact has many harmful side effects that include lung cancer day-dreaming for long periods increase in appetite chronic laughing memory loss acute and chronic bronchitis and abnormalities in cells in the lungs Marijuana can even cause death in some very rare cases Crack-cocaine is Americas nightmare it is the 1 drug in the US and more than 10 millions Americans are addicted to the drug Crack-cocaine originates from cocaine it comes from the coca leaves of the coca plant that grows in the high mountains of South America Crack-cocaine first became popular is the US in the late 70s when drug dealers rocked up the cocaine and smoke it The effects of the drug were so powerful they soon began to sell it and it became a problem in almost every US city instantly Crack harms the body in many different ways depending on how you use it When people smoke crack it kills brains cells that controls the major body functions Smoking crack can cause you to have hallucinations convulsions stroke or heart attacks increase heart rate disorganized behavior seizures brain damage and eventually death When people use crack with other drugs death occurs almost instantly Heroin is the most addictive out of the three most
