Sometimes the best teacher is yourself I have always felt this way in my life Of all the secrets for survival in school the one that speaks most directly to me are being Positive and open How you carry yourself in being confident in the work that we can do and can accomplish I have learned being in my first year of college that my homework could be a little difficult at times and I started out pretty tough Working and trying to take care of a family on top of that going to school part time Believe me doing all this was very hard at first My struggle was trying to cope with a new schedule Of course a new sleep pattern Ive learned to keep my head up high and strong and keep on moving Realizing that this is only the beginning and that I can do this with the help by my encouraging teachers and my wonderful husband If you view things in positive way then everything you do will pay off in a long run My goal of only being at a community college for two years seems like forever In my case starting college at the age of twenty-six is a battle Im a newly wed two kids of my own and a stepson To top it off I work full time My first two years I will be taking my basic classes and then this will set the flow of everything for my future I would like to express some thoughts to others that are just finishing up high school and that is to not have fear when going straight to college For that way you dont have to retake your basic classes again depending on your high school scores Second students should be realistic about how college will help you get a job At this time you would want to think very seriously of what you want
