In a world where Ethnicity and Nationalism effect on how we identify our self we are still we see this words with general meaning impacting our world in big scale They evoke emotions and feeling of solidarity that is so strong that it crosses bounders The first part of this paper aim to defined what Nationalism and ethnicity means and how is constructed It will do so by using different theories and scholars that have done a great deal of work in this two topic The second part will take a stand on how Ethnicity affects the building of national identity nationalismThe word Ethnicity is driven from the Latin world Ethnie and Ethno Ethnic identity ethnic origin ethnocentrism and ethnicism is all words people use to describe and defined what ethnicity means for a group of people These words are used to describe a sense of belonging relation with kin and an individual level of identification in a set of groups According to Schermerhorn ethnic groups are defined as a collectivity within a larger society having real or putative common ancestry memories of shared historical pat and a cultural focus on one or more symbolic element defined as the epitome of tier peoplehood Ethnicty 7 Therefore ethnie is composed of six features common proper name A myth of common ancestry shared historical memories common culture link to homeland and a sense of solidarity Etnicity7 To understand ethnicity better one need to look at the two theories that shed light on the construction of one ethnic identity Primordialist and Instrumentalist theory The two prevailing approaches provide a better understanding of the concept of Ethnicity The Primordial theory the emotional connection to kinship plays a vital role in the construction of ethnic identity Scholars such as Clifford Geertz argue that primordialism is attributed by individuals to ties of religion blood race language region or culture Thus ethnicity is a natural phenomenon with foundation in
