April 27th 2011 was one of the most devastating days ever in Alabamas history On this day 2 years ago more than 200 people lost their lives hundreds of families lost their homes and many towns were destroyed One of the many towns destroyed was my home town The destruction was massive The middle of town was completely leveled The only grocery store in town was destroyed all houses in the middle of town my house and many others on the outskirts of town were damaged and leveled As if damage and destruction were not enough the storm took four precious lives Annette Jonathan Justin and Jackson When the storm was finished the recovery began Search and rescue teams searched through rubble for hours upon end Emergency crews tended to the injured and families that had lost everything began searching for anything salvageable With me being a victim throughout the next couple of days everyone wanted to help I received boxes and bags of clothes from my friends and even people I didnt know We stayed at my grandparents house and my two cousins spent the night with me to keep me from being so scared The outpouring of support and help made all the difference People who had never talked to me before helped us people I had never even met and will probably never see again helped us The love and support was greater than any storm and we quickly saw our town become closer as a family instead of just a populationMany months went by and people begin building back Plans of demolition clean-up and rebuilding downtown were in the works Volunteers from all over came and pitched in money items and anything that was needed for clean-up It was all just completely overwhelming Around the beginning of September the builders began digging the foundation of my new house Slowly board by board and nail by nail it began looking like a
