Does praying necessarily make you religious No praying is used for spiritual reasons as well Spirituality deals with the individuals connection not necessarily with God and the freedom that religion does not have The dictionary definition of spirituality is of relating to or affecting the human spirit or soul as opposed to the material or physical things Religion is usually celebrated by a group of people who follow certain guidelinesBeing spiritual does not have to be associated with religion because being spiritual is a one on one connection instead of a group connection Usually being spiritual is connected with your feelings toward nature and how nature affects every day life An example of this is the story of Christopher McCandless In the book Into the Wild Christopher McCandless leaves everything behind and tries to live in the wild He does this because he feels like his life is missing something and that nothing excites him As his journey progresses in the book he builds a connection to nature His connection to nature frees him because he is able to stop and think about his purpose in life and he is able to reflect about experiences in the past He is also free because being spiritual does not have any guidelines He learns that he has not lived a complete life from his spiritual connection to nature In addition to nature spirituality has no rules and guidelines in which it should be followed Religion is usually the connection between groups of people and Gods There are many different religions with different beliefs In religion there are established rules which tell you how to conserve that religion and the consequences for not conserving it Different levels of religion are determined by how closely people follow the rules of the religion An example of this is the different levels of Judaism In Judaism there are secular Jews who do
