The soft cushion of my car seat supports me as my body shakes involuntarily I decide to stop my aged and battered vehicle in the nearest public parking lot so we can complete our vital conversation with no distractions over our obvious but hidden feelings for one another Should I really tell himI glance at my watch and notice that I must be home in only twenty minutes I feel as if the constant tick tick tick coming from my wrist is becoming increasingly louder and making the time speed by The sweet smell of my lavender scented air fresheners somewhat relaxes me My constantly-moving eyes target my dashboard the various glowing warning lights shine brightly down onto my worn-out steering wheel to remind me of how unhealthy my old car truly is My mind travels to golf practice when he would carefully drive my unsafe vehicle to the mediocre golf course daily In the few minutes that it took to arrive at the destination we would discuss silly pointless topics to pass the time I remember beginning to question my true feelings toward himConcentrateAs if he can sense my anxiety his hand inches toward the warm comforting material that surrounds my console where my trembling hand is resting I feel a sudden icy shock from the freezing temperature of his dry scaly hand that is now touching mine My heart is beginning to beat faster and faster as if ready to race out of my chest I quickly peer out the passenger window to see if anyone is outside I see only a few dim street lights lighting a small path for nocturnal pedestrians I attempt to focus my wandering senses and find his content eyes staring into mineWith the words of a wise woman I say Would it be wildly inappropriate to kiss you right nowIn response he says timidly ProbablyBut I dont careHe gradually leans in narrowing the space between our two
