There is a distinct difference of family portrayal between the Greeks and Hebrews The Greeks are understanding loving and inseparable no matter what the odds When it comes to the Hebrews they are ruthless and their actions are petty One thing these two cultures do have in common is forgiveness Hector forgives Paris and Helen for the war they caused and the family members in the Hebrews culture forgave their siblings after being treated unjustlyEven with forgiveness there is a clear difference with the love these cultures share with their familyIn the Iliad Hectors love for his brother Paris is unconditional Instead of turning him over to Agamemnon and his army for taking Agamemnon wife Helen he fights to protect Paris and the walls of Troy Hector stated Its because of you the city is in this hellish war Homer 251 With this known fact Hector is still willing to stand by Paris right or wrong Paris witlessness and Helen wanton actions Homer 252 had caused great grief on Troy yet neither Hector nor their father Priam is willing to release Helen to the Greeks to save the families of Troy Hector left the war to confront Paris about not fighting the Greeks when both knew if it was Paris out there fighting and he saw soldiers holding back from combat he would fight with them The response Paris has towards his older brother is very selfish Paris tells Hector he is recovering from his pain and this is the reason he is not out there to help fight the Greeks it takes his new wife Helen to encourage him to get up and fight Homer 251 This war was caused by the both Paris and Helen yet Paris has no motivation to defend the walls of Troy until his mistress tells him Paris actions are of an impulsive teenager not thinking before he acts or just not thinking with the right partsHector
