"This essay shows an impressive depth of engagement with the text. Each element is given a thorough and focused attention that lets you explore the complexity of the story. Unless required by your prompt, I don't recommend opening with--or even including--such a detailed full summary; instead, if you can boil it down to 2-4 sentences that give a broad overview, the reader can keep up with the later analysis. Doing this also helps show your control of the text because it conveys that you recognize the most important points and contours of the story; because you also demonstrate this in your plot discussion, your introduction really shouldn't spend too much time summarizing the action.

My other notes are mainly about readability and presentation. Check your style guide for line spacing and indents--the paper is otherwise visually intimidating. Proofread to catch occasional issues; while I really liked reading your personal reaction to Gimpel, I notice moments like those drop into more informal writing. Work with those areas to make sure they are not too casual--you can still capture the personal opinion aspect without losing control of the mechanics and diction."
