Its that time of year again A new school year has begun and we all have our different ways of coping with the adjustments For some the change of pace and routine from a two month break is a snap to get back into Though for others and not just the newer students its a time filled with excitement anticipation and anxiety Everyone experiences this feeling of anxiety but its how one deals with it that really makes the difference Generally a good aspect anxiety propels us to finish homework assignments and makes us stop and think before coming to a decision but this sudden onslaught of responsibilities can become overwhelming and ones anxiety can get out of control Fortunately there are those that can see whats happening and take charge and then there are those whose lives becomes completely consumed by it not even realizing theyve lost control until its too late Its this distinction between good anxiety and bad anxiety that needs to be defined in order to prevent future problems Though its easier said than done as always One thing that needs to be brought to attention though is that there is a such thing as an anxiety disorder developed genetically This makes some people more than others greatly susceptible to the effects Its a matter of realizing that something is wrong and that it may not be quite as normal to worry so much or so often The first step is to recognize signs of anxiety which can include restlessness irritability palpitations nausea and sleep problems Adversely these signs only add to ones growing anxiety Another thing to be aware of is the different types of anxiety Social anxiety is not just another word for an extremely shy person Its an absolute fear of social situations interaction and not wanting to be judged by others Such experiences result in reactions like blushing sweating and trembling adding even more discouragement General anxiety
