This week I am going to talk about Michael Sandel and his four main ideas of what money cant buy First being Coercion such as injustice and inequality Sandel say that all humans have need and when those needs are not satisfies they can be turned into actions of coercion which leads to the lack of freedom An example of inequality talked about in class would be the prostitutes among homeless youth I think that this is a great example of injustice because this is what children need to do to get by in life and for them it is the only choice they have Inequality talks about the more money you have the more power you have over others Sandel says that coercion come from those with money I think this is very true because they feel like they are in control for those who do not have as much money I dont think that inequality undermines equality to democratic society like he says because I think that most people who do have a lot of money worked hard to get where they are One example Sandel used for this would be selling your organs and is it the right thing to do for money I do not think it is the right thing necessarily but some do not have a choice The second thing would be corruption This is the one that I agree with the most because he says that when you treat some good as commodities then it looses it value such as friendship To me it is impossible to buy a good friendship You can buy someone to hang out with Im sure but it is not the same to me That is something that needs to be developed and cherished Also talks about humans beings treated like objects such as slavery I think this is truly happening more and more but it is not right at
