Gender roles have changed especially during the 20th century and continue to evolve to this day Woman today have more gender roles than just being a housewife secretary and a teacher Women have more choices than before A woman doesnt just have to be what society makes her be she can achieve and strive for any goal she wants now Gender roles no longer define a person as that is all they can ever be A man is not the only one who has to bring home the bread and the woman is not the only one that raises children If we think about it on the fact that it hasnt changed at all this is also true because if you think about it Gender roles can be as simple as being a father or a mother or a brother or daughter Gender roles have changed for the better men and women are no longer limited and can seek out opportunity without being bashed from societys social normsHow do you fail and simultaneously reinforce your performed gender role in different social contexts You can fail because the social context has changed No longer is their the perceived traditional gender roles that you have learned and portray are no longer the social norm therefore you fail by reinforcing them Coming from an old traditional Mexican family were the gender roles are simple the male is the breadwinner and the female is the caretaker However now its become more accepted in my culture to give up some of those responsibilities to the females No longer is the male the only breadwinner in the household They now have better careers and more opportunities then some males in some households For instance my brother who fits the stereotypic mode of a masculine macho man is now a full time stay at home dad now I wouldnt have imagined this happening to him twenty years ago Its strange to see
