The honor of a person is merely shaped by their sense of integrity reputation moral principles and dignity Despite the large collection of traits honor is societys respect earned by good deeds Although not one person can hold honors full set of attributes it is the accumulation of a persons deeds that makes them honorable In the book Of Mice And Men by John Steinbeck many characters possess qualities of honor however George is the most honorable George small and quick dark of face with restless eyes and sharp strong features is devoted into protecting his large yet childish friend Lennie Because of his strong sense of integrity George is held in high esteem by Lennie When George and Lennie start working on the ranch as migrant workers George quickly discovers a social hierarchy in which he is well respected by other honorable characters due to his intelligence and honorable acts upon Lennie Although many characters in Of Mice And Men hold virtuous qualities Georges sense of integrity reputation and moral principles make up the most honorable person on the ranch consequently affecting his decisions In the early chapters of the book it is indicated through conversation that Lennie is heavily dependent on George due to his mental challenges Despite Georges present obligation to protect Lennie Georges past feelings for Lennie held a hostile attitude While accompanying Lennie George naturally inclines to contrast intelligence therefore feels smart around Lennie When trying to impress his friends George ordered Lennie to Jump in the river An he jumps Couldnt swim a stroke He damn near drownedHe was so damn nice to George for pullin him out Clean forgot George told him to jump in Well he aint done nothing like that no more40 After the incident George realizes societys propensity to deem contempt upon the weak and feeble As his integrity takes over George begins to protect Lennie through guilt and new realization Because Lennie
