MODERN HISTORY NAZI GERMANY 14658580 From 1919 to 1945 Germany was witness to one of the greatest leaders of the 20th century Adolf Hitler Hitlers speeches were inspiring he was a great public speaker who could enthuse the masses and ignite a sense of belief His policies made sense and were aimed at the areas of politics that the German masses were resentful of ie the treaty of Versailles and reparations His party were highly organised flexible in their views He showed that through hard work and use of all available resources that one man could lead a nation out of despair and into the world stage In 1919 a new party had made its appearance into the crowded German political scene The group was established as the German Workers Party Deutsche Arbeiter Partei DAP and went virtually unnoticed The party showed little promise of developing into a major party nobody would have predicted that in four short years this party would grow into a driving force in German politics Adolf Hitler Hitler became a member of this party almost as soon as it was established with his talents in public speaking he quickly rose to be one of the leaders in the party He became both chief of propaganda and a member of the executive committee In 1920 the party then changed its name to National Socialist Workers Party or NSDAP better known as the Nazis In one short year Hitler had been successful in lifting the popularity of the NSDAP By this time in 1921 the organisation has grown to over 3000 members and where having meetings in large beer halls At the beginning of 1921 NSDAP had begun to circulate its first newspaper the Vlkischer Beobachter The Nazis then developed a military to help support the Nazi cause they were called the Stormtropers SA brown shirts The SA was lead by Ernst Rhom a close
