Bridget's feedback:
"This essay is well organized, and each paragraph responds directly to provide evidence for the thesis; it's clear you've engaged with and understood the text on various levels of theme and context and can discuss it cogently. You handle the MLA citations well, and your writing style is clear and structured well, with sound diction and syntax. My main comment is to streamline the essay on a few levels. First, I notice a lot of repeated ideas or even phrases within paragraphs. For example, the first 3-4 sentences of your introduction could probably be synthesized into a single, assertive opening sentence. Streamlining on both a conceptual level (eliminating repeated ideas) and on the level of writing (consider sentence variety and sentence boundaries) will create a leaner presentation that can showcase the solid argumentation and good evidence you have assembled.
As a final note, take a look at your first sentence about character change, which implies the change occurs during the plot of the novel itself -- does this opening suit the thesis of the paper?"
