Under the Influence The poem Pterodactyls by Marjorie L Sallee shows that people are directly influenced by everything they learn in school Many aspects of the poem are incredibly effective in representing peoples responses to experiences of education and teachers The poem shows how teachers persuade their students in to literature that would have not been read otherwise In the poem Pterodactyls Marjorie L Sallee shows how big of an impact one teacher can bring upon a person and keep them interested in books they had never thought to read She also shows how little things that the teacher does also influence intriuge students such as the pterodactyls on his tie who collects strange toys and bids on junk at auctions because these sorts of ideas are new and slightly different from views of which they are used to Even though most students say that they hate literature deep down they cant get enough Throughout the younger years of life students are affected by the literature that is thrown upon us and the teachers that do so this happens without the students knowledge of it even happening Not everyone is interested in literature at first but eventually a teacher will introduce a story or poem of which you had never read before this is when you must search for more In everyday life there is a tendency to overlook poems and books but everyonce in a while people are reminded of those one or two strange teachers in which they must go and find some new or uncover some old and exciting literature This is why the poem Pterodactyls is very much assosiated and comparable with real life
