Bridget's feedback:
"Your essay is focused and clear in its purpose. Well done! From the first sentence, your reader knows what the topic is and what your position is. By providing them with this framework, they can focus on the details and examples you give in the body.
Your writing style is direct and clear. Sometimes a minor error can impact clarity, so keep an eye on those moments. For example, take a look at the last sentence of your first paragraph: let's add a comma in after the introductory clause, which gives us "Around third to fourth grade, kids learn..."; as you can see, this helps show that "kids" is the subject (not "third to fourth grade kids", which is how I first read it).
Another element to polish up is how you cite your sources. Using a piece of cited evidence in each body paragraph is a good idea. Make sure you consistently format the citations. Check with your instructor about how they want you to do this. You can also use signal phrases ("As Prof. Ojha says..."). Also, make sure your third quote ("Those footprints...") is incorporated into the text. A signal phrase (as modeled above) is one way to do this, but think about what works best for the flow and argumentation."
