Bridget's feedback:
"This is off to a good start, and your engagement and investment with the material comes through in the depth of the discussion. Some of the argumentation gets a little muddled as you move back and forth between Rousseau as Enlightenment thinker, Rousseau as Enlightenment critic, the Enlightenment more broadly, the French Revolution, and modern examples. Of these, I would suggest eliminating the modern examples to finetune the focus, which must already navigate between Rousseau and the events after his death (his legacy), and then adjusting the conclusion accordingly. To really make sure the reader follows this movement, make further use of signposting and clarity of language; a thorough proofread and revision focusing on efficient phrasing will help polish up these elements. A similar task related to readability will be in aligning the formatting with your style guide (e.g., line spacing), something that should be done before any final submission.
I will also recommend against the very long quotations; you can demonstrate control over the sources by selecting the most impactful phrases to present to the reader."
