I have been born and raised in former Soviet Union and spanking as a form of discipline was very common when I was growing up As I look back it seemed that almost every single friend of mine has been spanked in order to be disciplined My parents used to spank me in order to teach me a lesson thinking that I will associate my wrong doings with pain and not do it again I remember being angry at my parents especially my dad for spanking me so I would fight back That is why I believe that physical punishment can cause children to become more aggressive No one likes to be hurt especially by their own parents who they trust and love Anger in an early age can linger into adulthood where having anger management issues can prevent people from having a normal life and healthy relationships When I was younger and I knew that if I would do something forbidden my parents would spank me for this reason I would think twice before I do it However as I grew up my punishments involved no TV and no play time with my friends outside Hence I started misbehaving more not obeying the rules of the house and talking back to my parents because I knew the consequences would be mild However I was still a little afraid because I did not want to get physically punished I personally think that because of the discipline I received when I was younger I became a little more aggressive than my peers who have never been spanked in their lives I used to be very angry and mad at my parents for spanking me Sometimes I also felt that I didnt love my parents because they choose a physical punishment instead of just grounding me It made me very upset and depressed and made me distant from my parents at timesI do not believe parents should
