American government has changed in several ways New laws are not only made and peoples interpretation of the world has continually altered throughout history Certain events have a way of changing history for the better or for the worst What occurred in central high school in Little Rock Arkansas was one of these moments The events that took place in 1957 Little Rock Arkansas has in turn changed the public school system and segregation as a whole for the betterOn 4 September 1957 this street in Arkansass state capital Little Rock was noisy crowded and charged with an atmosphere of violence Nine young black students were about to start at the previously all-white Little Rock Central High School Green Graeme In 1950s Americans were in the process of seeking control over how different sets of races could coexist together Throughout the late 1800s states provided segregated facilities as long as they were of the same quality Most everything was separated within the south schools hospitals railroad cars drinking fountains and restrooms By 1950 the Court had supported the right of blacks to attend white universities or law schools but on the grounds that those facilities could not be duplicated The segregated schools were found to be unconstitutional because even though the organization of the schools appeared equal from a distance in reality the arrangement typically only caused an even greater separation and division between the two races Even though the buildings might be of similar quality Warren asserted racially segregated schools had a harmful effect on black children by creating a feeling of inferiority as to their status in the community that may affect their hearts and minds in a way unlikely ever to be undone The Supreme Court recognized the harm in the segregated setup and decided to begin to alter the south tremendously The Supreme Court wanted to approach the sore subject of desegregating schools as lightly and as delicately as possible The
