"This is a great start that uses specific examples from the text to support your central claim regarding the main idea of Walden. This provides a logical and clear overall structure that helps the reader follow the discussion easily. I recommend some targeted work in how you present the quotations and analysis at a few levels. First, consult your style guide for proper punctuation in relationship to the parenthetical citation, as this will ensure the evidence is smoothly embedded in your text. I also recommend moving away from the current approach of presenting the quotation and then describing each element of the quotation. While this is a great way to organize your observations for your own analysis, this can cause the reader to miss the forest for the trees. Look over the various elements (e.g., para. 2: questions, bells, danger) and think about ways to synthesize those into a single statement that explains what Thoreau is saying. You can then move into more specific points as needed, but you may also find that your single statement covers the key points on its own.
Other tasks will include proofreading and a bit of tidying up. For example, the first-sentence introduction of the title and author should be formatted as follows: ..."from Walden by Henry David Thoreau...", with no quotation marks around the title (and no italics for the author's name)."
