"This essay is well-written, with clear argumentation. You've done a good job building up your claims toward a conclusion; it's very easy for the reader to follow the flow of ideas. The use of personal examples from the classroom are really interesting and bring depth and texture to the discussion. I would suggest breaking up the rather long paragraph on page two: "Many cultures celebrate..." begins a new example and goes in-depth enough to warrant its own paragraph. Transitional language can help guide your reader into that discussion as needed. Your opening paragraph, where you set up the context of your discussion, would benefit from sourcing and citations to help your reader understand the credibility of the numbers you present as well as the source of the "crash" concept. Finally, the writing itself is clear and mechanically sound, but I would suggest a thorough proofread to catch the occasional errors to ensure a polished final product."
