Of course we can remember those 8 years ago the violent winds and waters that broke the levees around New Orleans and separated thousands of families not only from each other but from their homes as well These obviously belonged to the seven-day hurricane Katrina President George Bush had said in Rome four years back I know what I believe I will continue to articulate what I believe and what I believe I believe what I believe is right How can turning a blind eye on something so tragic and by doing so be called racist be something you believe inAlmost immediately the effects of the levee failures were so bad satellites caught images showing the roads buildings and homes being consumed by the twenty-five feet of water If they didnt die traumatized by the loss of others the people got sick or paranoid when martial law was declared Martial law involved people working for the military come in and take control while ordinary law is suspended People were getting shot and killed not only by the police but also by their own neighbors I dont understand how you can tell the public that you believe heavily in what you think is right and yet helping minorities isnt what you would classify as being right During last years hurricane Sandy President Barack Obama handled the situation well and helped New York rebuild its infrastructures to their former glory Of course Sandy was smaller but what wasnt demonstrated during Katrina was leadership in my opinionThe most controversial part of this whole disaster was the fact that the African-Americans were exclusively being the victims of police brutality and a majority of the deaths that took place They would be wading through the streets looking for someplace dry and the police or a white family would see them and deem them suspicious or trying to break into their shelter to steal etc They would be shot
