India is a has a place like no other At one part of the land is a huge dry desert and at another part is one of the biggest mountain ranges in the world Not only does it have a unique geography but it also has a unique history and culture There is old culture like the gupta empire from 320 CE But there is also new culture like the Bollywood music industry thats still running in present day Also there is Gandhi who started a movement and inspired people all around the world From deserts to mountains India is uniqueBollywood is a movie industry that shows a lot about the indian culture and it is part of the indian lifestyle to go see movies The film industry started when a man made a short film in india in 1890 His name was DP Phlate After the film indians fell in love with movies Many people started making movies in india By the 1930s there were talkies which were movies with sound Soon there were many producers in India The format of Bollywood films are different than in the US Most Bollywood films follow the same format called masala Masala was a format created in the 1970s by a producer named Manmohan Desai The movies have stuck to this format for over 40 years The movies are pretty long at usually 3-4 hours but there is an intermission in the middle The movies have a style of music and dance The movies can sometimes have 100 choreographed dancers all doing the same moves The story usually include boy meets girl some action and a happy ending Bollywood films are very popular today and are even getting more popular Bollywood is even bigger than Hollywood which is in California Bollywood films are popular in britain and the popularity is increasing in america too Today Bollywood films are VERY popular in india Almost 14 million people
