On September 11 2001 my mom was unpacking We had just moved from Rochester New York to Florence South Carolina I was ten months old at the time this happened My mom had a small TV in the kitchen where she was able to watch the news My moms sister called her and said for her to turn on the TV My mom turned on the TV just as she saw the first Twin Tower go down She had thought it was just an accident Then she saw the second tower go down and it dawned on her that it was a terrorist attack My mom was shocked and scared She had lived in New York all her life and she knew many family members and good friends there It was an emotional time for her Her first thought was to make sure that my sisters and I were fine At that time all ways of communication were cut off My dad was working in New York at the hospital finishing his shift and was supposed to come down to South Carolina in another week or so My mom had to wait in fear for the next several of hours She then realized her other sister was in New York When my mom was finally able to communicate she first called my dad to make sure he was okay She then called her sister who happened to be in a train going to work My aunt said she saw the Twin Towers go down Everything and everyone froze It was a difficult time for my family An additional comment was added during the interview My moms good friend happened to be working in the Twin Towers She had a meeting earlier that morning She did not tell her parents because she did not think anything bad would happen When the Twin Towers fell her parents thought she was dead My moms friends realized
