Richard Trenton ChaseThe Mind of a Killer On May 231950 Richard Trenton Chase was born in Santa Clara County California All throughout his life he showed signs of delinquency His father was extremely overbearing and was said to have abused Chase as a child When he was young he enjoyed setting fires and torturing small animals He once set fire to a neighbors garage in order to get them to leave the neighborhood He did this because he disapproved of the loud music they had constantly played On top of this he continuously captured or stole pets and wild animals so he could torture them Many of the times he drank their blood after he mixed the entrails and blood in a blender Never did he show remorse for any of these terrible acts At the age of eighteen he moved out of his parents home and began to heavily use drugs He also became a severe hypochondriac constantly claiming that his internal organs were missing or that there was something wrong with his blood Once he even entered a hospital looking for the person who had stolen his pulmonary artery He was admitted to a psychiatrist who diagnosed him as a paranoid schizophrenic After the diagnosis Chase underwent a voluntary seventy-two hour observation period in a psychiatric ward When he left the hospital he returned home to live with his mother Despite his parents being divorced the father kicked Chase out of the home and bought him an apartment due to concerns about him At this apartment he continued to kill animals and drink the mixed concoction of blood and entrails At one point he even injected rabbits blood into his veins As a result of this he suffered from blood poisoning and was admitted into a hospital He was eventually committed to
