Bob's feedback:
"Looking at Hamlet through a Marxist lens is an interesting idea and makes for an entertaining read. You do a good job of describing the stratified nature of the society presented in the play. It may be a stretch, however, to present Laertes' actions as a proletariat uprising considering that he is part of the noble class and his reasons for rebelling are entirely personal. However, if you focus on the idea that the most powerful nobles (i.e., Claudius and Hamlet) use anyone below them as tools rather than people, and that this is what ultimately causes strife, your argument may be more convincing. Your conclusion is strong, noting that class differences are a necessary condition for the tragic events of the play. If you were to shift focus slightly to emphasize this rather than ideas about rebellion, it might make for a stronger argument.
Make sure all fact claims are accurate. For example, Hamlet was written sometime around 1600, not 1901, and Marxism is not a literary theory.
Be sure to proofread carefully as there are some scattered errors, such as "with whom Hamlet went to school with.""
