The War Over Abortion One of the most debated topics in the history of American politics is the issue of abortion There are many issues that are brought forth when arguing over the topic of abortion In 1973 there was a Supreme Court decision Roe vs Wade that ruled that abortion was to be legalized There have been many controversies over whether this ruling was moral and ethical This brings up many questions that need to be answered I feel that there are two major questions that need to be answered Whether abortion should be legal and if so under what circumstances The number one argument against abortion that pro-life supporters agree with is that they consider the unborn fetus a human being This is the main opposition of the Roe vs Wade decision It states in 21 Debated Issues in American Politics that the majority of the people that disagree with the decision of Roe vs Wade is that people believe that it is more unconstitutional to kill and unborn child then it is to protect the rights of a female Pro-life followers believe that the life of an unborn child is more important than a womans right to choose what she wants to do with her body They feel that they are the experts and that they know what is right for the female Carolyn Gargaro writes on her website Right away some will say that abortion is not a matter of life and death arguing that a fetus is not a person or a human being This is the views that many pro-life advocates take I would have to disagree with this Yes it is one thing to murder someone in cold blood I do not feel that abortion is murder It should be left up to the decision of the female To say that the fetus has no choice if the female decides she wants an abortion in my opinion
