Jeff Davis sold a hit series Criminal Minds to CBS television in 2005 Davis has done work as script reader editorial assistant writer for computer software manuals and computer support specialist in Los Angeles yet he had a difficult time selling his own work In the Television series Criminal Minds he created a character by the name of Spencer Reid Reid was an intelligent child born to his parents William Reid a lawyer and Diana Reid a former professor of 15th Century Literature Diana was a paranoid schizophrenic who went off her medication during pregnancy When Reid was ten years of age his father left home The ten year old Reid tried to convince his father to stay William still left refusing to take Reid with him Seventeen years later he found his father and found out that he left because of Dianas paranoid schizophrenic William told Reid that he was too ashamed and much time had passed for him to come back into Reids life Reid later puts his mom in a home and vists every now and then DrSpencer Reid portrayed by Matthew Gray Gubler Reid is the youngest member of the Behavioral Analyst Unit of the FBI profiling team on Criminal Minds He entered the BAU at age 22 there was not a one test that they put in front of him that he could not ace within one hour He received waivers for the physical part of the training which he struggled with Reid took a little over a year to pass his gun qualifications Reid is a genius who graduated from a public high school at the age of 12 He then went to Caltech with Yale being his safety school Reid has an IQ of 187 an eidetic memory and could read 20000 words per minute Reid holds a PHD In Mathematics Chemistry Engineering and also a BAs in psychology and Sociology
