Wow it must be amazing to study overseas or Your family must be so rich to be able to afford such a costly education These are some of the compliments that I usually get from my Thai friends However only a few of them really know how much pressure is hidden beneath the surface of being an international student The stress can include language barrier general circumstances and living with a new family The very first thing that all students have to encounter is language barrier This is the most serious problem that most of the international students are struggling with Some of them can get through and adapt to it easily some of them have to take a longer time to get used to but there are a few cases that eventually giving up and going back to their home countries It is actually understandable that studying subjects like mathematics and science have difficulty in itself and to learn them in foreign language could significantly put the pressure on the person Moreover trying to communicate in other language could also give tones of pressure due to the ability of not being able to explain things in the way the person wants Therefore English proficiency is considered to be the essential key to the door of happiness for most of the international students The next factor is the change of circumstances including cultures and lifestyles This is the problem that many parents do not usually aware of and many of them put forward the view that this new environment could change their kids to be a better person Conversely these factors can possibly give lots of pressure to the students for instance different kinds of friends It is very hard to learn and understand people who think and act differently from what we used to do This trouble can then lead to a bigger drawback which is not being able to be friends with
