Driving a straight-shift car has never been something that I was especially good at but I had the desire to learn how to drive one It was a hot sunny day when I obtained the responsibility of driving and I was to carry both of my brothers and my boyfriend to church one Sunday evening The air was on high and the music was playing loud I turned onto the familiar road that I had lived on since I was eight years old Along the way we passed many of our family members as well as church members We waved and smiled like we had everything to be thankful for As I was crossing over a hill on a curve a man hauling a boat was driving in our lane As I swerved to avoid hitting the truck I lost control of the wheel My car screeched a couple hundred feet weaved back and forth across the road and spun around a couple of times I tried to calm myself enough to regain control of the wheel however with my brothers screaming and my car uncontrollable I could not We came to an abrupt halt as my car rammed into a ditch My brother began screaming Get out of the car GET OUT Its on fire You have to get out We all tried to calm him down and assure him that the car was not on fire but that the radiator had busted It was exceptionally difficult to alleviate the panic that he had felt after such a traumatic incident We had many concerned drivers as well as church and family members stop to check on us The man who swerved into our lane did not stop to be sure we were not hurt he just kept driving We had minor injuries including bruises from the neck up a severe seat belt burn and complete body soreness As I look back on that day
