Often when an individual is immature they lack an understanding of their environment When a person is immature it effects their reputation In many ways a person that is immature is not trusted by other people To be immature is like being a child In the novel Of Mice and Men by John Steinback Lennie is an example of an immature character Although Lennie is among the principle characters he is the least dynamic because he is mentally slow physically slow and he creates negative situations He undergoes no significant changes development or growth throughout the novel Lennie is a mentally slow character due to his immature behavior lack of making the proper decision and his lack ability to protect himself Lennies habit of petting soft things such as a dead mouse or the dress of a woman often gets George and Lennie into trouble forcing the two men to continuously have to find new work Because of his mental limitations Lennie never could understand or anticipate the consequences of his actions He is a completely defenseless individual Their dream is to own their own place and be their own bosses in the future Lennies enthusiasm for the vision of their future farm proves contagious as he convinces George Candy and Crooks that such a paradise might be possible There Lennie will be able to tend to the rabbits A mans ability to dream is directly attached to having someone to share the dream with Lennie is a physically slow character due to his speech his education and his stubborn actions He is a physically large man whose mind is slow He wore denim trousers and a denim coat with brass buttons He had a black hat on his head and over his broad shoulder lie a tight blanket that contained his personal belongings The author John Steinback introduces Lennie having a short attention span and acts similar to a child Lennie
