Damnum innocentiae Perdid de la inocenia Perte de linnocence No matter what language it is said in it all means the same thing loss of innocence In the riveting novel To Kill a Mockingbird many characters experience a loss of innocence The author Harper Lee tells about a story which takes place in the 1920s in the racist town of Maycomb Alabama Tom Robinson Boo Radley and Jeremy Atticus Finch are just a few of the great examples of innocent mockingbirds that are in the tale She also shows the significant events that destroyed these innocent characters and a theme that is represented by a mockingbird which tells a lot about the nature of human beingsAn imperative example of a mockingbird is Tom Robinson a man who is unjustly accused of something chimerical fantastically improbable and highly unrealistic something he could not possibly do under the circumstances The crime he is suspected of is raping Mayella Ewell When his lawyer Atticus Finch lucidly proves to the jury that Tom is unable to commit such a crime and that the evidence was speculated through the eyes of witness Heck Tate Nevertheless Tom was unfairly judged by the society because of the complexion of his skin which he cannot help or change and ultimately given a verdict of guilty That was just one of the way Toms spirit and innocence perished along with Tom losing all hope Atticus states I told him what I thoughtI guess Tom was tired of white mens chances and preferred to take his own 315 which shows that Tom flees because he has already been let down by the justice system once and has absolutely no faith that an appeal will do him any good The reality that he would be killed either way sets in He decided to take the only chance to be free but in the end it fails After struggling to escape he ends up with
